What can I expect when I take sildenafil? +
Sildenafil does not cause an instant erection. It typically starts working about an hour after you take it, and the effects last four to five hours - a window of roughly three hours in which an erection should feel harder and last longer than before.
It does not change your libido or desire; you still need to be sexually aroused for it to work. A large meal taken at the same time can delay the effect by about an hour.
Can I take more than one dose in a day? +
No. Sildenafil is a once-daily medicine and taking a second dose in 24 hours raises the risk of side effects without improving the effect. If a dose isn't working for you, message the clinical team rather than doubling up.
Why is sildenafil cheaper than Viagra? +
Same active ingredient, no brand premium. Viagra's patent expired, so licensed generics containing identical sildenafil citrate are made by several manufacturers and cost less.
Is sildenafil safe to use long term? +
For most men, yes, and it does not stop working over time. Your prescriber reviews it at each repeat, and will ask about blood pressure, heart health and any new medicines.
What are the common side effects? +
Headache, flushing, indigestion and a blocked nose are the ones reported most often, and they usually settle. Seek urgent help for chest pain, a painful erection lasting over four hours or sudden vision or hearing changes.
Does alcohol make sildenafil less effective? +
A drink or two is unlikely to matter. Heavier drinking makes an erection harder to get in the first place, so the medicine has more to work against.
